Greenwood Consulting Engineers was founded in 2016 by Eliot Greenwood, built on a simple idea: residential engineering should hold up on site, not just look right on paper.
What started as a structural engineering practice has grown to bring structural, civil and stormwater engineering together under one team, so clients aren't left coordinating separate consultants for each part of a project. Eliot leads GCE as Director and Principal Structural Engineer, working closely with architects, builders and homeowners from the earliest concept stage through to construction.
That same practical, site-focused approach now supports residential projects across Sydney's Northern Beaches, North Shore, Eastern Suburbs and Inner West.

At Greenwood Consulting Engineers, our approach starts with the site, not the spreadsheet. Every residential project brings its own mix of structural, civil and stormwater considerations, so we look at the whole picture from the outset rather than treating each discipline as a separate hand-off — coordinating structure, drainage and access requirements as one connected engineering solution instead of three. We work closely with architects, builders and homeowners from concept through to construction, keeping our designs practical and buildable rather than just technically compliant, and staying involved on site as the project actually gets built. It's a hands-on, senior-led approach: straightforward advice, clear documentation, and engineering that holds up once the trades arrive.
We regularly work alongside certifiers, town planners, surveyors, geotechnical engineers, pool builders and building consultants, providing the engineering input each project needs to keep moving from design and approval through to construction.

GCE is led by Eliot Greenwood, who oversees every project's engineering, and Alexis Tracey, who keeps the practice running day to day — between them, your project gets both technical oversight and a clear point of contact from first enquiry to completion.
Eliot Greenwood
Director & Principal Structural EngineerEliot founded Greenwood Consulting Engineers in January 2016, bringing prior experience as a structural site engineer and structural engineer at established consulting engineering firms, where he designed and documented steel, timber and concrete structures across commercial and remedial projects. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and a Diploma in Engineering Practice from the University of Technology, Sydney. Eliot leads GCE today as Director and Principal Structural Engineer, working directly with architects, builders and homeowners from concept through to construction support on site, and remains personally involved in the fee proposals, design and client relationships behind every GCE project.
Alexis Tracey
Operations ManagerAlexis keeps Greenwood Consulting Engineers running smoothly behind the scenes, managing the day-to-day operations that let the engineering team focus on delivering for clients. She's often the first point of contact for building designers, builders and homeowners getting in touch with GCE — coordinating enquiries, scheduling, and project documentation to keep every job moving without unnecessary delays.
